3-in-1 Preschool Project
HOW CAN WE FOSTER A LEARNING CULTURE ACROSS ORGANISATIONS?
Sharing resources and mutual learning can be beneficial for organisations in the long run. We joined forces with Persatuan Pemudi Islam Singapura (PPIS, or the Young Muslim Women’s Association) and the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) for a joint training and exchange programme to better equip pre-school teachers.
The two organisations have 16 pre-school centres across Singapore with over 1,100 students. The teachers collaborated, exchanged ideas, and learned from each other. Close to 100 teachers from PPIS and YWCA benefited from the exchange.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE POSITIVE AFTER-EFFECTS?
The joint learning experience was extended to about 100 YWCA and PPIS children, who visited old folks’ homes during the Ramadan and combined festive celebrations.
In addition, a special fund was created for preschoolers attending PPIS pre-school centres and the refurbishment of the PPIS Bukit Batok Centre. Besides providing financial aid, the LIFE (Low Income Families Empowerment) Fund strengthens these families by imparting parenting skills.
