Canossian Circle of Care
Conceived through a collaborative effort by the Lien Foundation and Canossaville Children and Community Services, the Canossian Circle of Care aims to enhance and integrate services across the traditional silos of early childhood, primary school, special education, and after-school education systems and demonstrate how coordinated care can benefit children, particularly those facing adversity, as well as children with additional needs.
Bridging the various education systems is the in-house Canossian Child Development Unit, which supports children and their families through therapy, social work and psychological services. Inspired by such units in our hospitals, the Foundation sought to bring a compact and appropriate version of this into schools and the community. It also involved KK Women and Children’s hospital in developing a multi-tiered system of services to include children with learning and behavioural needs, with primary focus on children with hearing impairment, as well as a study to identify how the different education sectors could integrate their work and develop family-centered and effective teaming practices.
