Rehability
Rehab capability building needed to meet rising complex needs
Rehability is SG's first post-professional, workplace-based training ecosystem
500 primary healthcare workers and 180 PTs will be trained
Rehability is Singapore’s first post-professional, workplace-based training ecosystem for rehab therapists, co-developed by NHG Health and NTU. It is a structured yet stackable training pathway where therapists can earn and study, learn and apply.
Singapore’s rehabilitation landscape faces rising complexity with an ageing population, higher chronic disease burden, and a lean workforce.
Rehability addresses these challenges through a tiered, structured and clinically integrated training framework, modelled after the medical residency programmes, and adapted to allied health needs. It will train therapists across three tiers: Tier 1 provides targeted teaching to enrich the primary care and community-level workforce. Tier 2 is a 2.5-year curriculum modelled after a medical residency — adapted for allied health. Tier 3 comprises of a Masters degree and Advanced Practice certification, where medical specialists will directly mentor therapists.
Lien Foundation’s four-year, S$4.08 million investment will train 500 primary and community healthcare workers, 104 physiotherapy residents, 40 Masters and 36 physiotherapists with advanced practice privileges. The programme is open to therapists across hospitals and SSAs, with confirmed participation from NHG Health, AWWA, and SPD.
