First introduced in 2015 at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) by Dr Noorhazlina Ali, Namaste Care is a multi-sensory, person-centred approach to care.

It supports patients though simple interventions such as massage, aromatherapy, music, grooming, and reminiscence. While seemingly small, these acts acknowledge and honour the individual, recentering care around the person beyond their illness.

The programme has grown rapidly in 2025-2026 with LF support. In half a year, Namaste Care has scaled from one dementia ward to five additional wards, reaching over 450 unique patients with palliative care, intermediate rehab, post-stroke, and geriatric needs. Within one year, it has grown to all 16 wards at the Integrated Care Hub (ICH). In this time, the team also introduced Namaste Care Plus which included more innovative interventions such as Magic.

What began as a clinician-led initiative is now sustained by a trained network of 126 healthcare workers, 135 volunteers, and 89 caregivers. By end-2026, all 62 wards at TTSH are expected to incorporate Namaste Care activities.

Together, these efforts demonstrate how small, human-centred acts can strengthen relationships, provide comfort, restore dignity, and offer moments of healing even when words—or medicine—fall short.
