Mission: I’m Possible
This early detection and intervention programme to help preschoolers with developmental needs was piloted from 2009 to 2012. It has since been scaled-up nationwide by the government and is now known as the Development Support and Learning Support Programme.
Mission I’mPossible (MIP) started its pilot run in July 2009 in 25 PCF centres within the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC. This programme was the first of its kind that screened, flagged out and addressed the needs of preschoolers with developmental needs in mainstream preschools.
MIP not only provided screening and therapy but also equipped preschool teachers with the skills to help these children, all within a cost-effective community model. Preschoolers under MIP attended ten therapy sessions held during school hours in the preschool. This reduced dropout rates and enables better teacher-parent collaboration. A multi-disciplinary clinical team worked hand-in-hand with preschool teachers and LSEds (Learning Support Educators) to support the child’s development.
